  • Hi...I'm new but not really and I love that we're sharing our Truth with ourselves and each other.

  • Hi, I never read anything written by Brene, but hope to. Peabea suggested I join this group because I wrote a post on authenticity. I think it's important that we know and honor who we really are, while respecting the individuality of others. It's an uphill battle, but continually evaluating what we do, how we behave and our motivations does help. I question myself everyday. It's making me a happier person.

  • Oh Kerri, you are so worth it!!!! Do not devalue yourself. Our labels like wife, mother, counselor etc really say NOTHING about who we are as a BEING, a SOUL/SPIRIT. You are a wonderful caring person. You have a right to have Tues night to yourself if that is important to you. If someone else had a family conflict or a work related meeting people would understand. Your friends need to understand what's important to you, if they don't, they aren't real friends , JMO. HUGS!

  • Hey...just found this. Really great. I missed some of Brene's discussion but will surely enjoy the comments here. @debles...we downsized our holiday the last couple of years, and last year...no presents at all except for the two smaller grandchildren, and the grandson brought his Wii and we had dinner and played that all day long. The Rock Band was hilarious but the best presents of all was getting to watch my grown children interact and laugh the day away. What great memories I carry from that. Everyone buys what they want anymore so we decided we could do without the stress of giving a gift.

  • I'm a little nervous to post this but I just really need to get it out. I have been feeling like - ugh not even sure how to articulate - like I'm not important because it's just me. I don't have a significant other so therefore my time is less important than those who do. Like what else could Kerri possibly have to do than jump any time someone comes up with a plan. I have a friend visiting from England next week and when I said I couldn't do happy hour on Tuesday because it is my big gym day (those who follow Biggest Loser, Tues would be my last chance workout and weigh in day). People looked at me like I was crazy and selfish. And then of course, I felt completely selfish. The worst part is ... I'm starting to actually feel like I'm not important b/c I don't have someone special in my life. Just boring, old (ugh), useless Kerri.
