Taking part in The Altered Barbie show produced by Chatter Box and curated by Jill Andersen and her team really changed my feeling about Barbie. I had alot of anger, and i think there is alot to be angry about when it comes to imposing impossible standards on women, cultivating consumerism and the Culture of Inadequacy. But working with the Altered Barbie Artists and Jill and the rest of her team, i really got in touch with the fun side of it all to. Barbie can be silly and finding my playful side was invaluable. To me this fun is epitomised in the "barbie Girl" video by Aqua see it on the altered barbie page on PNN! altereedbarbie.pnn.com So I don't hate Barbie anymore, but i don't really love her either, so fan or foe??? i don't know but it may well be worth talking about!
